Reading 40: On the Pittancer
The prior and the community, with the
knowledge of the abbot, shall instate a
pittancer. He shall
collect and keep safe the dues of pittances, and administer them according to the will of the prior and the community, and he shall
not spend these for purposes other than pittance unless by a permission of the prior and the chapter, and when required, he shall
give an account of these [dues] to the brothers.
DE PITANCIARIO : lectio 40.
Pitanciarium prior et conuentus de conscientia abbati institua<n>t. Qui redditus pitanciarum
colligat et conseruet, et ad uoluntatem prioris et conuentus administret, et in alios usus quam in
pitanciis nisi de consensu prioris et capituli expendat, et computationem, cum requisitus fuerit, de
eis coram fratribus reddat.
